How Your Steamboat Remodel Works — From First Call to Final Walkthrough
Most remodel fear comes from not knowing what happens next. So here is the whole path, step by step — what we do, what you do, and what you walk away with at each stage. A written scope before demo, a photo every working day, and the owner on every job, so the only surprise is how much you love the result.
Call or text 970-393-6239 — photos of your space welcome · 30-minute response, Mon–Fri.
A written, line-item scope before demo · a photo and status update every working day · final payment only after you sign off.
Ten clear steps. No guessing what comes next.
Every Elk Ridge remodel follows the same documented path. You always know where your project stands and what happens next — whether you live here or manage your home from out of state.
01. Inquiry
What happens: You reach out — a call, a text, or the walkthrough request form. This starts the clock on our 30-Minute Promise.
What you do: Tell us, in a sentence or two, what you're thinking about. Photos help, but they're optional — a quick message is enough to start.
What we do: During business hours (Monday–Friday, 7am–6pm MT), you hear back from us within 30 minutes — never a voicemail black hole, never a wait until "someone gets to it."
What you walk away with: A real human reply and a clear next step, fast.
The fear it removes: "I called three contractors and nobody called me back." You never chase us.
02. Qualification Call
What happens: A 20-minute call with the owner, not a salesperson — to see if we're the right fit before anyone spends a day on site.
What you do: Talk through what you want to change, roughly when you'd like it done, and the budget range you're working within. Honest answers here save everyone time.
What we do: Listen, give you straight scope direction, and tell you plainly whether your project is a fit for us — and if it isn't, point you somewhere better.
What you walk away with: A clear read on fit, a sense of what your project really involves, and no pressure either way.
The fear it removes: "I'll get talked into something I don't need by a closer on commission." You're talking to the person who'll actually run the job.
03. Walkthrough
What happens: We see the space — on-site in person, or by photo and video walkthrough if you're a remote or second-home owner.
What you do: Walk us through the rooms and point out what's bothering you. For remote owners, send photos and a short video, and we'll guide you through what to capture.
What we do: Take live scope notes, measure, and flag anything the description didn't account for — the things that turn into surprise costs when they're missed.
What you walk away with: The feeling of being understood, and confidence that the real scope was caught early — not discovered mid-demo.
The fear it removes: "They'll find 'surprises' once the walls are open and the price will balloon." We look hard before we quote.
04. Scope & Estimate
What happens: We turn the walkthrough into a written, line-item scope — backed by our No-Surprise Scope Guarantee.
What you do: Review the scope, ask questions, and start thinking through selections — finishes, fixtures, and materials — using the allowances and direction we lay out.
What we do: Document every line of work in plain English, set clear allowances for selections, and give you honest direction on what a project like this realistically involves.
What you walk away with: A written scope you actually understand — so you know exactly what you're getting before anything is signed.
The fear it removes: "I don't really know what I'm paying for." It's all on paper, line by line, in words you can read.
05. Proposal
What happens: Within 48 hours of the walkthrough, you receive a written proposal.
What you do: Read it on your own time. Bring back any questions — there's no rush and no pressure to decide on the spot.
What we do: Deliver a clear, written proposal fast, and walk you through it line by line so nothing is buried in fine print.
What you walk away with: A document you can sit with, compare, and trust — delivered when we said it would be.
The fear it removes: "I waited two weeks for a number scribbled on a business card." You get a real proposal, in writing, within 48 hours.
06. Contract & Deposit
What happens: You approve the scope, we put clear terms in writing, and the project is booked.
What you do: Sign the agreement and place the deposit that holds your spot in the schedule.
What we do: Spell out the terms in plain language and explain the change-order policy upfront — so you know, before day one, exactly how any change gets priced and approved.
What you walk away with: A signed plan with no hidden mechanics, and a clear understanding of how change is handled when it comes up.
The fear it removes: "The contract is full of traps I won't notice until it's too late." Terms are plain, and the change rule is explained before you commit.
07. Schedule & Materials
What happens: We lock your dates and order long-lead materials early, before demo begins.
What you do: Finalize your selections so we can order on time, and mark the start window on your calendar.
What we do: Reserve your place in the schedule, order long-lead items up front, and plan around mountain delivery — in Steamboat, remote delivery adds roughly 3–7 days to material lead times, so we build that into the plan instead of letting it surprise you.
What you walk away with: Real dates, materials moving, and a timeline that already accounts for mountain logistics.
The fear it removes: "Work will stall for weeks waiting on a backordered vanity." Long-lead items are ordered before demo, with delivery time built in.
08. Construction
What happens: The work begins, run under our Daily Visibility, Broom-Clean, and Verified-Crew guarantees.
What you do: Live your life. You don't have to be on site or chase anyone for updates — they come to you.
What we do: Every sub on your job has a current insurance certificate, a Colorado trade license where applicable, and a signed agreement on file before they set foot in your home. We send a photo and a short status update every working day, and we leave your home protected and broom-clean at the end of each one.
What you walk away with: Daily proof of progress, a clean home each evening, and the certainty that only verified, insured people are inside it.
The fear it removes: "I'll have no idea what's happening behind those walls, and I don't know who these strangers in my house even are." You see it daily, and everyone is vetted before they arrive.
09. Weekly Updates
What happens: On top of the daily photos, you get a short written weekly recap.
What you do: Read it — two minutes — and flag any decision you want to weigh in on.
What we do: Send a written recap covering what happened this week, what's coming next, and any decisions we need from you — to whoever you want, wherever you are.
What you walk away with: A clear, written record of the whole project and zero "wait, when did that get decided" moments.
The fear it removes: "I'll find out about a change after it's already built." Decisions come to you in writing, before they happen.
10. Final Walkthrough & Warranty
What happens: We walk every inch of the finished work together, close out any open items, and your warranty begins.
What you do: Walk the space with us, point out anything that isn't right, and sign off only when you're satisfied.
What we do: Resolve every open item, do a professional deep-clean at completion, and collect final payment only after you sign off — never before. Your 2-year workmanship warranty starts that day, in writing.
What you walk away with: A finished remodel you've personally approved, a deep-cleaned home, and a written 2-year warranty behind the work.
The fear it removes: "They'll take the final check and disappear before the punch list is done." You hold final payment until you've signed off, and the warranty is in writing.

Most remodels go sideways in the gaps. This process closes them.
The hard part of a remodel was never the tile or the cabinets — it's the not-knowing. Not knowing if your call will be returned. Not knowing what's really in the price. Not knowing what happened on site today, or who was in your home, or when it will end. Elk Ridge is owner-run and built around a single idea: put every one of those answers in writing, on a schedule, before you have to ask. A written scope before demo. A photo every working day. A verified crew. Final payment only after you sign off. Same standard on every job — whether you're down the street or out of state.

What to expect — and how we handle it
A remodel is disruptive by nature. We do not pretend otherwise — we plan for the hard parts up front so they stay manageable. Here are the four that come up most, and exactly how we deal with each one.
Living without a kitchen — or a bathroom. We sequence the work to shorten the worst stretch, set up a temporary setup where it helps, and tell you on day one which weeks will be the hardest, so you can plan around them instead of being caught off guard.
Winter and peak-season timing. Mountain delivery adds roughly 3 to 7 days to material lead times, and trades book 3 to 4 weeks out in the June-to-September peak. We order long-lead items before demo and plan interior work for the seasons that fit it, so the calendar works with the mountains, not against them.
Decision overload on selections. Tile, fixtures, finishes — the choices pile up fast. We guide your selections within clear allowances and a structured materials process, so you are choosing from a sensible shortlist instead of the whole internet.
Budget surprises. The number changes when the scope was never written down. We put a written, line-item scope and detailed estimate in front of you before anything is signed, and any change is priced and approved in writing before the work happens.
How long before we break ground?
From first call to breaking ground is typically a matter of weeks — enough time to walk the space, finalize your scope and selections, and get long-lead materials ordered, but no longer than the work actually needs. Remote mountain delivery adds roughly 3–7 days to material lead times, and trades book 3–4 weeks out in peak season (June–September), so the earlier we talk, the better your window.
Winter is the right time to plan interior work for spring — calendars fill ahead of the seasonal windows.

Every phase, on the record
You should never have to take our word for what happened on site. Every working day we send a photo log of the progress, and every week you get a short written recap — what got done, what is coming next, and any decision we need from you. By the final walkthrough you hold a written record of the whole project, start to finish.
Already have plans or an architect? Bring them.
It does not matter how far along you are. Whether you are starting with a blank lot or you already have a set of drawings, there is a clear next step.
Starting from scratch
You have a lot, or a room, and an idea — but no drawings yet. We help you shape the scope and develop the plan from there, so the build is figured out on paper before anyone swings a hammer.
